I received the tough toddler pen as a Christmas gift for my daughter, who’s only 8 months old and then purchased the mat to go into the pen. The pen is the perfect place for her to play in as she learns to roll around and sit on her own. The sports play mat is padded enough for her to practice sitting on her own, because when she falls over she doesn’t hurt herself. It’s also VERY comfortable and soft to the touch, which she also enjoys. I would recommend this mat to anyone, regardless of having the tough toddler pen to put it in.
